Last night some friends and I went surfing out in Cardiff in the red tide at dusk to see these little creatures called dinoflagellates light up the night. We surfed in the dark for about 45 incredible minutes. The bio-lum was bright bright blue-green and every wave that would break looked like a smoldering fire in blues rather than reds.

For anyone in SD, I highly recommend swallowing your fear and going for a midnight swim somewhere in Cardiff/Encinitas
