Hollywood pics

My digicam has been broken so I haven't had too many new pics up. A bunch of us took a trip to Hollywood for a galery opening of our favorite artist Colleen. The photographic proof from Wilson's camera are now online:

For some reason I look really funny in all these pics. Something must have happened to my face.

HoppingCow and Nicole got married

I went up to Napa over the weekend to see my family and for Brendan's wedding. It was a raging good time as so many of my old friends were there. I miss all of them a ton and one day was not enough.

I had a little moment while sitting in the 107 deg sun watching Brendan and Nicole exchange rings. It was sort of out-of-body (perhaps the heat) and I was watching everything from far away thinking, "wow, Brendan is now married! How incredibly crazy is that" Hard to believe and yet it looked pretty normal.

There are lots of pics from the trip here: Wedding pics

311 New Album!

This is what friends are for...

I've been so busy and stressed and just out of it that I didn't even know 311 has a new album! Anne texted to let me know they were on the radio, on Love Line no less. Thanks Anne!

So, new 311 album, Don't Tread on Me will be out Aug 16th. Go get it, or you're lame.

Their tour starts next week and they'll be here in SD on the 30th at the over priced Street Scene. I have half a mind to quit and follow them all around the west coast like an 18 year old. Damn mortgages...

Maddox is god

Maddox is pretty much the best ever. I hope he mentions my blog!

If these words were people, I would embrace their genocide.

Today's perfect sentence

Here's my favorite email from today. Would an English major please count the mistakes in this?

"After further investigation we discovered that yesterday there was no service interruption although [our monitoring tool] did report that there was a service interruption. We review the webserver logs, and request were being service while [our monitoring tool] reported that they were not. Our investigation are continuing with [our monitoring tool] to verify that monitoring not presenting any false alarms."

All monitoring tool names have been hidden to protect the innocent.

Work sucks

Have you ever had to work on horrid projects day in and day out? I have...
Have you ever sat laughing at the ridiculousity of the meetings you're in? I have...
Do you ever wish you were somewhere else? I do...
Do you ever wish for natural disasters just to liven up your day? I do...
Have you ever wondered what would happen if you just ran away? I have...
Have you ever wondered why beer tastes better when you have problems? I have...
Do you ever think music could save the world? I do...
Do you ever wish you were a fish?

I do...

Why people suck

Urban Legends Reference Pages: Photo Gallery (Shark Catch)

Quote from the fisherman:
I felt bad that we caught her at the prime of her reproductive cycle. When they get to be this massive they call them queens of the sea. I would have let her go if I had been by myself, but it's different when you have four or five other guys on the boat. You've got to win.

Strange days

Sitting at home on a Saturday night. There's loud music coming from somewhere and I've been sitting too long. Took the strangest walk around the block. The music is coming from the community center, which is filled with young people dancing like it's going out of style to a blaring Grease soundtrack. Tried hard not to laugh. One corner later, watched a pimped out Mercedes try to get to 80mph in the 50 yards between red lights. Walked back in to Dennis Hooper ranting about the virtues of Kurtz.

Strange days...

Canon camera woes

I'm sure everyone noticed that there haven't been any new pictures up in my image gallery. That's thanks to my Canon S400 crapping out on me. A while back it started giving memory card errors that would, from time to time, go away long enough to get a few pictures. Now the errors are permanent and the camera doesn't work at all.
I did some searching around online only to find out that many people have had the same problem, right around the 2 year mark, just after the warranty is up. I emailed Canon support only to get the same answer that everyone else got; minimum $150-$300 repair charge, not including parts or additional damages. Wonderful...
It's too bad I told so many people to buy these cameras, I really hope that their cameras don't have the same problem.

I will give Canon one prop. They offer an upgrade to a S410 for $175. That's at least kinda nice. A $250 camera for only $175... plus the $365 for the camera that doesn't work...

Eli's selling his old Olypmus C4000 with the Light and Motion underwater housing. I'm thinking about buying that, but it's slightly more that $175. What to do, what to do.

Darn toys
