I got a call that Brenna was headed to the ER. Drove like crazy to get there and found this: Don't worry, she's totally fine. Had a bad headache and perhaps the nurses where she was working overreacted! We were stuck in the ER for almost 3 hours! She even got a very embarrassing ambulance ride from the hospital she was working at to the ER. I think she just wanted to flirt with the 20 year old EMTs.

Hatteras damage from fall storms
The Hatteras local bloggers have been posting a few pictures of the damages from the fall storms out there. It looks amazing and is a great reminder of the delicate banks they live on. These pictures are by far the best:

I even wrote to Dimitri and Chris from Eclipse Kites to see how they were doing. I got a very cryptic "This is HOLLYWOOD" response from Dimitri. Not sure what that means. Perhaps he hit his head while testing the new kites. :)

The Monterey Bay Aquairium has released their guide to ordering and eating sustainable sushi! Sad part is everything I ate last night for dinner is in the Bad column. I'm going to have to start getting picky!

Many Eyes: Earmarks By State - 2008 - Per Capita Dollars
Another example of republican hypocracy. Alaska has the highest earmarks per capita of any state.

Branchflower report
As if you needed any reason to NOT vote for Sarah Palin: Branchflowerreport.source.prod_affiliate.7.pdf (application/pdf Object)
Here's 263 pages of reason.
Summery:
"For the reasons explained in section IV of this report, I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act."

Edge: WHAT MAKES PEOPLE VOTE REPUBLICAN? By Jonathan Haidt
Edge: WHAT MAKES PEOPLE VOTE REPUBLICAN? By Jonathan Haidt
Really fascinating read!
Even better, is Sam Harris' response
Really fascinating read!
[...]the second rule of moral psychology is that morality is not just about how we treat each other (as most liberals think); it is also about binding groups together, supporting essential institutions, and living in a sanctified and noble way.
When Republicans say that Democrats "just don't get it," this is the "it" to which they refer. Conservative positions on gays, guns, god, and immigration must be understood as means to achieve one kind of morally ordered society. When Democrats try to explain away these positions using pop psychology they err, they alienate, and they earn the label "elitist." But how can Democrats learn to see—let alone respect—a moral order they regard as narrow-minded, racist, and dumb?
Even better, is Sam Harris' response
